A place for inspiration, celebration and thanksgiving for life – aimed towards community, sustainability, care of sacred earth and wildlife, and nourishment of our bodies, hearts and spirit.
The Barns, just two miles from Totnes, provide a beautiful environment for up to 20, for families, groups and other gatherings (more beds available at nearby B&B). There are wide views to Dartmoor and access to seven acres extending to the Harbourne River.
These hill side stone barns, around a courtyard, were recently converted and include the large, bright, open-ceilinged ‘Albion Room’ – 11.6m x 5.3m (37ft x 17ft), ‘Hayloft’ – 6.7m x 3.7m (22ft x 12ft), and separate sauna area. Rooms are eco-painted and most have doors to the courtyard garden or upper terrace. There are wood floors and underfloor heating throughout. Water is U.V. treated borehole water and hot water is solar heated.
There are garden and yurt terraces around the barns with a hedgerow walk to a beacon lookout and fire point. Beyond is shared with others working the land which takes you through wooded fringes, down to the river and past great trees, with sculptures and shrines along the way; leading to the Santa Rosa labyrinth and the sheep grazing. Planting with fruit, nut and indigenous trees is planned, together with a vegetable garden.
Eden Rise is the long-standing vision of Sky Chapman. The Barns were bought by a family trust and will become a charitable amenity. They are managed by a small team based in the Totnes area. There are also many people offering a diverse range of catering, holistic treatments, dance, voice, craft and environmental activities – details available on request.
The Barns are self-catering (and your own bedlinen and towels are requested) or by arrangement - see Local Services
Totnes and Dartington, with their wealth of opportunities, as well as Dartmoor and a range of beautiful walks and beaches, are all nearby.
